Mannaminne - in the heart of the High Coast of Sweden
Mannaminne is a unique place on a four acres area, where over 50 buildings welcome everyone to experience a combination of nature and culture, art and technique, history and future, locally and globally, from tiny to big things.
All this is the work of artist Anders Åberg and can be called an open-air museum with something to enjoy for everyone and all ages. See the video below.
You can wander between a agriculture museum , art museums, a Chinese pavilion, a subway train, a locomotive and trams, houses from Hungary, Estonia, Norway and Sweden, a coastal museum, a traditional Norwegian church, a large handmade globe in its own house, an accordion museum, a science house with lots of vehicles, a Swedish Draken fighter plane, an open coffee roasting house, a tug boat from the river of Ångermanälven and much, much more.
You can also eat and stay overnight at Mannaminne. Café Mannaminne serves you coffee, tea, bakeries and simple dishes, and of course everything you need for a swedish "fika". In Hotel Mannaminne Höga Kusten you can stay in a room that itself is a work of art or why not the B&B at the Norway house or maybe in one of the three small cabins. Arts and crafts from local craftsmen are sold at the entrance and in the craft store.
Mannaminne is like a living village with many exciting things to discover, not just the art and the museums but also concerts, activities for children, temporary exhibitions, festivals and a lot of other events taking place.
Mannaminne is charmingly situated in the village of Häggvik in Nordingrå and is one of most visited spots in the World Heritage High Coast.
